Although our son is very bright, he could not read, write or compute math problems. We tried various techniques, but we could not figure out how to bridge the gap between his
intelligence and his performance. We were drawn to NILD because we believed the program would help him become an independent student. We also recognized that we needed an outsider to push him in the areas that were so frustrating to him. Our therapist has become a trusted friend and ally and one of our son’s strongest advocates. After almost 2 years, his recent test scores indicate that he needs continued intervention in only 4 areas. Two years ago, he needed intervention in 10 different areas. Our greatest joy is that he has become an independent reader and is now exposed to the world that books offer.
